Heat-Treatment Lines and Capability

Baosteel's hot-rolled heat-treated steel is produced on three lines with a combined capacity above 400,000 tonnes per year, covering gauges from 2.0 to 20.0 mm:

Maximum tensile strength reaches 1,800 MPa and maximum yield strength 1,500 MPa across these lines, with quenching, tempering and normalizing capability.

Baosteel High-Strength Structural Steel (BS Series)

The BS series covers yield strength levels from 600 to 1,300 MPa. MC grades (BS600MC-BS700MC) are delivered in the TMCP as-rolled condition in gauges up to 20 mm; grades from BS800E upward are offline quenched and tempered (Q+T) in 2-20 mm. The suffix system is precise: D = -20 °C impact toughness, E = -40 °C impact toughness, HB = high cold-bendability, LR = low yield ratio.

Standard supply gauge: 2-20 mm × 900-2100 mm × 2000-15000 mm (TMCP MC grades from 1.5 mm). Welding guidance published by Baosteel: MC grades are weldable without preheat in most gauges; for Q+T grades, recommended minimum preheat ranges from 75 °C to 150 °C depending on grade and thickness, with heat input ≤ 8-15 kJ/cm.

Baosteel Wear-Resistant Steel (NM Series)

Developed on Baosteel's thin-gauge heat-treatment lines, the NM series covers Brinell hardness levels from 360 to 600 HBW to GB/T 24186 — the standard family that maps one-to-one to international NM360-NM600 grades. The E suffix denotes the high-toughness version with -40 °C impact energy of 60 J.

Supply range: 2-20 mm (thicker on request), 900-2000 mm width, 4000-15000 mm length.
